I never used to like baking because I like to stir, turn and add ingredients while I am cooking.  That's why stir-frying appeals to me so much.  But now I like baking because I can make up a dish and throw it in the oven and forget about it while I prepare something else.
From cookies, cakes, pies and breads to using the oven for baking or roasting vegetables and meats – I love them all! Strictly speaking, baking is a method of cooking with dry heat over an extended period of time.  We think of baked products as mostly breads and cakes, but meat and casserole dishes can be baked too.  It is possible to use less fat in the baking process compared to frying for a more healthy creation.  In fact, if you use too much fat as oil, butter or margarine, etc., in a baking recipe, the baked dish will spread out and flatten too much while baking.  Dry heat in an oven will chemically change the natural and added sugars in food and make the outside of your baked items to be coated in an attractive browning color and taste.  I like my Oatmeal Cookie recipe because of the Internet legend story that goes with it.  Whether or not you believe that story, you will love the cookies that result from this recipe. Each spring I take my family out picking strawberries to make fresh jam.  But my favorite part of that day is reserving some strawberries aside for making baked Strawberry Shortcake This is a simple box recipe that cannot be beat for simplicity and flavor.  If you make the optional whipped cream from scratch you will enjoy your strawberries even more. My favorite dessert to make is pecan pie.  Toasting the pecans first before adding them to the pie is the secret to a flavorful pecan pie and I will tell you why on my Pecan Pie Recipe page. Don’t forget to visit one of the most popular recipes webpages that I have, the recipe page for Jennifer’s Banana Bread.  My neighbor Jennifer gets a big kick out of all the visitors that comment how they love this recipe. You can choose from all the links to my best baking recipes from the menu bar listing on the left side of this page.
